Zabumba In ‘Dire Financial Shape’

Radar reports that Carla Burgos, the sister of slain Zabumba owner Monica Beresford-Redman, is telling a court that the Palms restaurant, once a thriving hub of the neighborhood’s Brazilian community, is in “dire financial shape” and is also trying to get legal permission to buy the deed to the business for $1.00. Burgos and her sister Jeane have been running operations at the restaurant, albeit at a loss, since the April 2010 murder of their sister and contend that the restaurant is currently not profitable. A decision on the proposal is expected this Monday. [Radar]
