Here at Grub Street, we’re big fans of Teranga, the quiet Senegalese restaurant in the South End. Marie-Claude Mendy deserves plenty of credit for opening the city’s first Senegalese spot. We’ve enjoyed her hospitality first hand; she’s always eager and happy to explain her more curious concoctions. For her Chopped debut, we’re betting that she whips up the country’s national dish, Thiebou Djeun. (It’s herb-stuffed white fish cooked in a pumpkin-spiked tomato stew, FYI.) Tune in to the Food Network at 10 p.m. tomorrow evening to cheer her on.
