Anyone remember Tyler Florence’s planned Bar Florence project in the Hotel Vertigo, which fell apart back in 2009? Well, now two sets of plaintiffs are suing the celeb chef and his company TyFoods Media Inc. for breach of contract and a few other things, claiming that Florence abandoned the project only to open a “substantially similar” restaurant thirteen blocks away called Wayfare Tavern. Michael and Hani Musleh and Martel and Nabiel Inc. want the money back that they invested in the project, even though it may be the landlord who was to blame here. Also, besides serving “classic American cuisine” (which is all that Florence does), it sounds like it will be hard to prove that these projects were all that similar. [Courthouse News via Scoop]
