Today Huffington Post looks at five of L.A.’s best known beer gardens, a timely story given that the sun finally broke through on this first day of summer. It’s a strong list of mostly classics, with Red Lion Tavern getting a roar of approval for its old school German cool, Wurstkuche receiving due propers for setting sail a thousand sausages, and ColLAboration noted as the red hot pop-up of the field. What do we have to add?

Since it’s an indoor affair, this big beer garden story obviously didn’t include the actual Biergarten, KTown’s raging take on the trend, but the list could still be stretched with the additions of Chaya’s Japanese beer garden, Angel City’s attempt at al fresco drinking, Eagle Rock Brewery’s food truck-catered beer garden, Verdugo’s outside digs, and another classic, that garden of boozy delights at Cat & Fiddle.

Or maybe we’re just trying to thin the wasted herd at Venice’s On the Waterfront, which takes the top spot with HuffPo. Speaking about being on the waterfront, don’t forget our number-one destination drinking outside in the SoCal sun. The beach, dudes!
