The NYT Discovers Pisco

Local boys Duggan McDonnell and Walter Moore get their wish today as the New York Times finally discovers pisco, saying it’s “bringing rich freshness to cocktails” in New York and other cities where the cocktail culture is “obsessed with novelty.” S.F.’s own Campo de Encanto, founded by McDonnell and Moore, gets heavy mention, as does another local brand, Viñas de Oro, as well as McDonnell’s bar Cantina, and Pisco Latin Lounge. They also give credit to S.F. for inventing the Pisco Punch, noting that the first recipe might have had a little cocaine in it. [NYT]
