The Invasion Continues With Mr. C, Now Open in 90210

The door is apparently still wide open to New York’s aspiring restaurant empires, ambitious chefs, European playboys, hipster haunts, and the Left Coast collaborators who prostrate themselves to the supreme authority of Gotham’s taste. Now up to the plate is Mr. C, an Italian restaurant opened yesterday in the new Beverly Hills hotel of the same name. This is the West Coast debut for the Ciprianis, the multi-generational clan of Venetians who have launched an international empire from their surname and long given restless, rich New Yorkers a playground to while away the days glowing fabulously over Bellinis and carpaccio. So, what will you find here?

Daily Candy breaks down all the ornate Italian trimmings, which include marble flooring, Venetian chandeliers, indoor and outdoor seating, and bespoke leather chairs. This is the kind of place where you’ll find Dover sole being pushed alongside pricey pasta dishes, pizzas, salads, and grilled entrees. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and hopefully, no local crime lords.

Sure, it’s pretty hip that the fourth Cipriani generation would name their hotel and restaurant chain after a Ready to Die producer, no less after his recent arrest for lewdness, but still, this one must be organized for an older, moneyed clientele. It sounds like an ideal fit for a certain Bentley-driving Beverly Hills crowd, whether or not we’ll be joining the well-heeled affair anytime soon.

Mr. C, now open at 1224 Beverwil Dr. Beverly Hills. 310-226-6245.
