Sorrow for Il Faro

Last month Boston Restaurant Talk noted that Medford’s popular Italian restaurant Il Faro, a town mainstay for decades, had been seized (complete with embarrassing window signage) and shuttered by the state for failure to pay their taxes, never a good idea. The Medford Patch reports that they owe $142,784.20 dating to 2006 and haven’t attempted to repay the debt. However, the “seized” sign is now gone and their equipment won’t be auctioned off (apparently it belongs to the building’s landlord), but the big question is: Are they open? BRT advises to call ahead before visiting; we did and the line’s been disconnected. It doesn’t look good. [Patch via BRT]
