A new restaurant named Rosé is planning to open next month in the former Mark’s Restaurant space next to Nobu. This will be the first of what owners David Kay and Kamran Pahlavi hope to be an empire that can be translated to cities like New York, Tokyo, and Dubai, and as we know by now, La Cienega is a good starting point for future mass-production. The cuisine here will be Provençal and French Riviera-inspired, specifically focusing on St. Tropez, with a 1960’s Riviera-inspired setting that finds both indoor and outdoor seating, nautical touches, pop photos, and a huge communal table. And to drink?
Of course there will be rosé, with a rep telling us they even have a proprietary version made exclusively for the restaurant. Beyond wine, science-y New York mixologist Alex Ott has been put in charge of the cocktail menu here. In addition to snatching a job away from one of our own bar masters, Ott is delivering a “mood menu” of drinks (hold for gut-busting laughter) and will endow drinks with organic fruits, herbs, and spices, as well as house-made extracts and syrups.
That’s not the only guest spot to anticipate either, as dinner will stretch to the late hours with help from French house DJ and composer Stéphane Pompougnac, who will handle music duties with songs like this.
We’ll all see whether this Rosé has any legs when it opens in July.
