Bars on the Lower East Side have had a hard time in general lately, but
Painkiller PKNY can't catch a break. As you know, the bar recently had to change its name, and Eater says that last night the Department of Health shut the place down. A tipster who was on the scene told Eater that the bouncer blamed a liquor-license issue, and when we stopped by today, we found nary a person, just the posted "operating without a permit" notice. Attempts to reach PKNY and its owners have proven fruitless, but we'll let you know if there's anything more concrete to report.
