Noble’s noblest barkeep, Christian Gael, tells Men’s Health that bartenders aren’t trying to rip you off when they fill your glass up with ice. According to him it’s quite the contrary. You see, the mass of ice sort of acts as insulation against the warmth outside the glass, which keeps your drink cold and prevents it from being diluted with melted cubes. So when bartenders load up on the ice, they’re actually looking out for you! Or are they? A few months ago we reported that Michel Dozois, the brains behind L.A.’s Névé Luxury Ice Company, said that ice and keeping its melted aftermath from watering down your drink actually makes you consume booze faster and more frequently. So who’s telling the truth here? [Men’s Health]
