Flex Mussels Debuts ‘Summer Flex-Days’; Actual Wild Strawberries at Union Square Greenmarket

Financial District: Milk Street Café, the Kosher-food hall we mentioned the other week, opens tomorrow, with free cookies and coffee from 10 to 11 a.m. They will be open regularly from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., except for Fridays when they'll close at early 3:30 p.m. (What's that? They're actually kosher!) [Midtown Lunch]

Lower East Side: Eight-month-old Yummy Sushi at 198A Orchard Street quietly closed and reopened as AAA Ichiban Sushi under new ownership. [Bowery Boogie]

Midtown East: Num Pang's midtown location at 140 East 41st Street officially opens tomorrow but is unofficially open today with a line out the door and around the block. This new location adds two new midtown-only items to the menu: a Khmer sausage sandwich and a roasted chicken "chimi" sandwich. [Midtown Lunch, Grub Street]

Midtown West: Jake Klein is the new executive chef at Morell Wine Bar & Caf, and he has revamped the menu with Caribbean and Southeast Asian accents. Check out the new menu here (PDF). [Grub Street]

Union Square: British chain Pret A Manger has added a new "Summer Light Menu," with salad, wrap, and soup options, at all of their locations. [Midtown Lunch]

The Union Square Greenmarket is selling actual wild strawberries ($6 per box). Look for incredibly small strawberries sold on their stalks; expect intense flavor. [Fork in the Road/VV]

West Village: Monument Lane has started serving weekend brunch; see the menu here (PDF). [Grub Street]

Flex Mussels introduces "Summer Flex-Days," a new happy-hour deal available Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. that includes a $20 bottomless pot of mussels and beer (with fries), lobster-falafel sliders, or Zac Young's drunken doughnuts. [Grub Street]
