Biergarten Due in July, Complete With Bratwurst

The latest on Proxy, that cool new shipping-container-architecture complex that’s slowly springing up at Octavia and Fell, is that Suppenkuche’s outdoor beer garden — appropriately named Biergarten — is next on deck. They hope to be open by mid-July. The plan, as the Chron reports, is to serve bratwurst, potato salad, and pretzels along with many German and Belgian beer options, and ultimately to serve rotisserie chicken too. Also, something we didn’t realize, is that there are going to be 100 seats in this place, and part of the delay is that they’ve got to install plumbing for some heavy-use bathrooms. And as it turns out, the promises of Pizzeria Delfina moving in to Proxy as well are sounding very up in the air.

The Delfina team still has its hands full getting the newborn Locanda into its groove, and we’re told not to expect them or 4505 Meats to be moving into Proxy “anytime soon.” Other possibilities being floated by the development team are Prather Ranch (for the meat angle) and Charlie Hallowell (on the pizza tip, via Oakland’s Pizzaiolo).

Smitten Ice Cream and Ritual Roasters are both already open, and we believe there’s still a wild-card, rotating pop-up space that will be in the mix as well as Proxy evolves.
