Sometimes you just want an old-timey kind of sports bar with one or two TVs and where the beer still clocks in under five dollars. SF Weekly today provides us with a roundup of friendly sports bars around town where “where you can catch the game without an acre or so of competing flatscreen TVs distracting you from the pros and cons of the infield fly rule.” They recommend, in particular, Cresta’s 2211 Club (2211 Polk at Vallejo); Tommy’s Joynt (1101 Geary at Van Ness), which of course also has a hof brau component, but beware the salt!; and Gino & Carlo (548 Green at Bannam) in North Beach, where burlesque legend Carol Doda still sings sometimes, but obviously not on game nights.
