Tilted Kilt Denied Liquor License

Next time you’re in the mood to be served by scantily clad waitresses in kilts, it’s best that you avoid Evanston. The Tilted Kilt was denied a liquor license yesterday after an intense opposition collected nearly 2,000 signatures. Earlier this week the mayor of Evanston also came out against the project. She said that the final straw was when she noticed that the business card for the restaurant featured a waitress with no head: “It was just breasts, a shrug shirt, a bare midriff and the kilt, that little skirt.” While those who opposed the project are obviously happy with the results, some are questioning whether the city is being a little too prudish. Interestingly, a Hooters operated in the city for years. That said, Northwestern University sociology professor Gary Fine notes that the proposed site of the Tilted Kilt would have been “blocks (away) from the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union headquarters.” [Chicago Breaking News]
