Unlike Next, Aviary has been making due with a first-come, first-served policy. It’s nice to not have to deal with a complex online ticket system when you want a drink, but that hasn’t made it any easier to get in. With the lines regularly stretching around the block, the lounge has decided to set up a new policy which it hopes will ease “wait times and better serve our customers.” So, how do you get a spot at the most talked about cocktail lounge in town?

According to a message on its Facebook wall, you can enter what amounts to a daily raffle. All you have to do is e-mail reservations@theaviary.com between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the day of and indicate “your party size and contact information.” Ten e-mails will be randomly selected and given tables for up to eight people. While it’s not exactly a sure thing, it’s good that there is another option out there.

Oh, and if you are lucky enough to snag a seat, you might want to read “The brokeass guide to The Aviary” by Metromix. It should help you get out of the swanky joint without blowing $200. The main takeaway from the article seems to be that you should get one drink and then “get out” before you have the urge to stay all night.
