Lost amid all the chaos of whether Taste of Chicago would remain free or not, was discussion about the actual food. While it’s one of the biggest food festivals in the country, it’s not often mentioned as one of the tastiest. Most of that, we realize, is due to the economics of feeding so many people. But there is hope in the new vendor list, which features a few surprises. Most prominent on the list is Lao Sze Chuan, which is considered one of the best Chinese restaurants in the whole city. And it’s not like it’ll just be serving up orange chicken for the crowds. It’s planning to serve its famous dry chili chicken. If there was ever a dish to brave the insane crowds for, it’s this one.
