Take a Peek at Stephen Starr’s Frankford Hall, Opening Later Today

Though it’s always been regarded somewhat of a joke for generations, when Stephen Starr opens Frankford Hall today, valet parking in Fishtown will be a real thing! But to keep the neighborhood’s well-bearded and fancy-free from feeling alienated, the beer garden, which was nine months in the making, will also feature ample bicycle parking with newly installed bike racks. It won’t put on the same airs as some of Starr’s tonier ventures either; the sausage-laden menu’s price points hover just under $10, and top out at $15. Since there won’t be any servers, all food will be ordered and picked up at walk-up windows. Inside Frankford Hall seats around 160, and an additional 240 in its sprawling outdoor space. Click through the slideshow we put together to check it out.

Frankford Hall, 1210 Frankford Ave., (215) 634-3338

Just mere steps from the entrance, Frankford Hall’s main indoor bar will feature nine draught beers, plus wine and cocktails.
In addition to the main bar, Starr’s beer hall seats as many as 160 at long, wooden communal tables and round high tops.
From this bar, guests can order draught and bottled beers, plus wine and cocktails.
Exposed bricks and salvaged and reclaimed materials, like this used Jack Daniel’s barrel that serves as a trash can, create a rustic, post-industrial atmosphere.
This salvaged sink will hold used glassware and dishes.
Outside, large wooden picnic tables will seat up to 240 more guests.
To provide shade and foster a garden-y atmosphere, Starr had four large Linden trees brought in and planted in Frankford Hall’s beer garden.
Staff will meander throughout the beer garden with large baskets filled with authentic Bavarian pretzels.
Inside and out, Frankford Hall’s bars will offer nine draught choices, seven of which will be German imports and German-style craft beers, plus two Dogfish Head selections, including the only My Antonia on tap anywhere.
At this outdoor bar, only draught and bottled beers will available.
