New Pool Hall and Restaurant Likely Coming to Crow Bar Space in North Beach

A new “billiards academy” with twelve pool tables and a self-service restaurant called Broadway Corner Pocket is looking to take over the Crow Bar space at 401 Broadway. The building owners Fang Liu and Shun Li Chow, who plan to operate the pool hall, are bringing the project before the Planning Commission tomorrow, and they’re likely to get approval. Perhaps to avoid strife in the approval stage with local bar owners, they aren’t talking about a bar component just yet, but say they may seek a liquor license in the future. (We personally can’t even play pool without being slightly buzzed.) And since it is a “billiards academy” and not a “pool hall,” per se, there will be billiards instructors on hand at all times, allegedly. As for the food, it will be “American.” Look for this project to take shape over the next six months. [Grub Street]
