A deal memo over at Publishers Marketplace reveals that the villain (arguably) of Top Chef season six and the runner-up during season eight, Mike Isabella, has just sold “FLAVORS FROM A JERSEY ITALIAN, sharing his favorite homestyle recipes that ‘speak to the heart and the gut,’ inspired by his Jersey childhood and the traditional Italian and Mediterranean dishes he learned from his grandmother but with a modern twist, to Katie McHugh at Da Capo, in a pre-empt, for publication in Fall 2012, by Howard Yoon at the Ross Yoon Agency (World).” A preempt means he likely got a lot of dough for it. Gotta wonder if Ariane sent him congratulatory flowers.
