Even since Charlie McKenna’s Lillie’s Q opened over the summer, it’s been scoring spots on lists of the best barbecue in the city. Now the Bucktown barbecue joint is getting some national recognition, as Food and Wine selected it as one of the top six new barbecue restaurants in the whole country. The magazine specifically recommended the restaurant’s “baby back ribs rubbed with a secret ‘Carolina dirt’ spice rub.” Of course, we know that McKenna also has a way with pork shoulder. In fact, he’s headed down to the Memphis In May World Championship Barbeque Cooking Contest this weekend to compete for the seventh year in a row. He won the whole pork shoulder category back in 2007, and came in fourth last year. Good luck! [Food & Wine]
