We’ve admired the videos, the decorations, and even the menu, but we finally got the chance to see what a full Union Sushi + Barbecue Bar looked like over the weekend. The restaurant was hosting some friends and family for practice run before it officially opens this week. The owners have been talking up the robata grill, where they’ll cook all the skewers for the restaurant, but it’s hard to fully appreciate the fury that it can unleash until you see it in action. We also got sample some of the other items the restaurant will be serving up soon.

As we mentioned last week, the menu covers a lot of ground. While you’ll be able to get noodles, dumplings, and some other appetizers, we were most interested in the dishes that the restaurant was named after. We sampled some classic sushi offerings, including a Rainbow roll, along with a few of the restaurant’s signature rolls, like the Sonoma. But as you can probably tell, we spent most of our time admiring the robata grill, which can get up to 600 degrees. Let us know what you are most looking forward to below.
