Yesterday the Observer revisited the knife fight between Lucali’s owner Mark Iacono and his longtime friend Benny Geritano, pointing out that while he heals, Iacono has turned over pizzaiolo duties to an assistant named Travis. According to the Observer’s account, witnesses say Geritano’s knife came out first, but now Geritano’s lawyer tells the Daily News, “Initially they thought [Geritano] had the big knife. He didn’t. The big knife plunged into his back by the pizza pie owner.” The lawyer says that according to “a big guy” in the district attorney’s office, it’s unlikely the case will go to court since neither Iacono or Geritano are talking.
