Reopenings

Alex Garcia Will Be Chef at the New Copacabana Supper Club

Over a year ago we reported that the Copacabana was planning to reopen in the old China Club space, with a retractable glass roof. Now we’re told that Spencer Rothschild of Barrio and the soon-to-move Calle Ocho will be running the front of the house, and the chef will be Alex Garcia, the Nuevo Latino fixture who opened Patria with Douglas Rodriguez before going on to launch Calle Ocho, and then Gaucho Steak Co. and Carniceria in Brooklyn. We’re told the Copacabana Supper Club will open in early summer, complete with a stage and dance floor for Latin acts, as well as a sixteen-seat bar showcasing 125 varieties of rum.
