After 40 Years, Sawtelle Is Losing Safe and Save Market

We’re sad to see another sign of the changing times, this time over in West L.A. Times writer Betty Hallock tweets what Yelp then confirms: Sawtelle’s 40-year-old Japanese-Hawaiian market, Safe and Save, known for a sterling spread of seafood, is closing its doors. While the neighborhood’s forthcoming location of Marukai might carry a bigger selection, there’s no doubt some heartache is due over the loss of this longstanding Mom and Pop.
