Is Fatty ’Cue Coming to the West Village?

What will the West Village space that held Cabrito and then the Fatty Johnson’s pop-up be when it reopens? Sources tell us that Zak Pelaccio is planning to turn it into a Manhattan satellite of Fatty ’Cue — possibly a higher-end version. Cabrito was going fairly strong when it closed in December, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see it replaced with a sure thing. Meanwhile, Fatty ’Cue’s Brooklyn location and its vaguely roadhouse ambience is likely what kept critics like Platt and Sifton from doling out a third and second star, respectively. Perhaps the Fatty Crew plans to remedy this at the new location?

Sifton complained about the lack of reservations, the service, and the noise when he linked to his review: “Can you think of other restaurants in New York where there is this kind of gulf between what the place looks like (not so great), and how you feel there once you’ve started eating (awesome)?” Yet despite the one-star review, the restaurant is still on his Sifty Fifty. A Fatty rep isn’t ready to make it official, though, telling us merely that “anything’s possible.”
