Ever wonder why you’re feeling slightly buzzed after you devour that cupcake? Well, that’s probably because there actually is booze in it, as infusing alcohol into desserts is apparently our city’s next food craze. More Cupcakes is currently advertising its “avant garde booze-infused creations,” including an Amaretto Coconut cupcake that tastes like an “alcoholic Almond Joy candy bar.” Time Out also pointed out that The Boiler Room in Logan Square is serving up both PBR and Jameson infused soft serve ice cream. If you don’t have much of a sweet tooth but still want to get sauced without all that pesky liquid, it looks like the Familia Camarena Tequila food truck will be visiting Chicago during the summer to hand out “tequila-infused tacos.” Our L.A. bureau actually wrote about the truck last year. We’re not sure how it could possibly be legal to distribute free alcohol on the street, but we’re not complaining. Still, we are going to come out early and urge all national restaurant chains to stay away from this culinary trend, as it seems like they are having a hard enough time as it is. [TOC]
