Two East Bay Chefs Try to Reverse Curse on Telegraph Avenue Space

Most recently home to Locanda da Eva, the space at 2826 Telegraph Avenue has been one of those revolving doors of restaurant concepts in recent years. Two, both Locanda and Maritime East were pretty short-lived, as the Chron’s discusses, with Locanda ranking as the quickest open-and-shut case of 2010 at a mere four months. Then there were a couple of “more successful” ventures in that spot, Zax Tavern and Casa de Eva. Now two chefs from Pleasant Hill’s Nibblers are looking to expand into the inner East Bay by taking the space. Daniel Clayton and Trace Leighton say they want to take “a little of what we’ve been doing for the last six years and moving it to a more urban environment” with Origen, a “farm to fork” eatery with an international tapas-style menu. We wish them well.
