Giving Real Food Daily a run for the “most literal restaurant name on earth” prize, a press release announces the coming May 9th opening for True Food Kitchen at Santa Monica Place. We’re always excited to hear our food will be real or even true, rather than those fake fruit-shaped fridge magnets we tried to eat as toddlers. True Food, a partnership between Arizona’s Fox Restaurant Concepts and pop health guru Andrew Weil, has existing locations in Arizona and Newport’s Fashion Island. The SMP location will continue the vision of selectively-sourced, healthy fare that takes dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free) into consideration in a huge menu of globally-influenced dishes that use wild-caught fish, whole grains and fruits, and free-range chicken, with the addition of a cocktail bar, a living wall, herb planters, and a few new entrees in a super green space. Check out the menu online to get a sense of the fare, and look for a May 9th debut at the revitalized mall.
