NoMI Renamed NoMI Kitchen, Reopening on June 3

NoMI is changing things up.
NoMI is changing things up.

After nabbing a Michelin star last year, NoMI did something very unusual and decided to take a nearly five month break. At first, the restaurant claimed it was needed to renovate the dining room. But the Tribune is reporting that it had some other ideas in mind, too. Namely, it won’t be called NoMi anymore, but NoMi Kitchen. The Tribune explained that the restaurant decided to make the change to “emphasize more local ingredients and less rigid presentations.” What does that mean? Well, instead of just being a “once-a-year diner” it is hoping appeal to a younger crowd. It is planning to reopen on June 3. This should all quite anger Pat Bruno, who heralded it as the best restaurant of last year in the Sun Times (oddly the article and the original review have been deleted from the newspaper’s system).
