Borough Parks Ziclick isnt the only offshoot of Israeli gelato chain Aldo to open: A week ago, in Kips Bay, Mia Chef Gelataria opened in the former Tease space. The owner tells us its the same as Aldo, but everything is made into American flavors meaning chocolate whiskey, Cap'n Crunch, and lemon-raspberry cheesecake are among the many daily rotating varieties (panna cotta and crme brle are others). There are also sorberts as well as doppio zero (sugar- and fat-free gelato), but perhaps most exciting are the Mi Amore cakes; they're variations on the hollow, cylindrical Hungarian kurtosh pastry their dough is made in-house, shaped on rolling pins, and then dulce de leche, toffee, and hazelnut-chocolate varieties are baked to order. Mia Chef Gelataria is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. till midnight and weekends until the last customer is served.
