Lexington Social House Opens in Hollywood

Thrillist puts us on to this week’s soft-opening at Lexington Social House, the new Hollywood lounge and restaurant from New York brother-and-sister team Jeremy and Junella Chin. The Schoos-designed space appears to hold both a supper club-style dining room and lounge with a Carrera marble bar, Viceroy-reminiscent patio, oversized Victorian chairs, and funky stick figures painted on the walls. Mette Williams is doing the cooking here, and (sorry, Thrillist) is not actually a former Spago/Cut “guy,” so much as a former Spago/Cut/One Pico gal. But we digress. So, what is Williams cooking here?

The chef is devoted to farmers markets, and has created a straight-forward menu that features fresh produce and sourced proteins with creative co-stars for dishes like crispy avocado with crab salad, citrus, mango, and basil; confit pork belly with cabbage and apple salad and cardamom gastrique; lamb bolognese; and Scottish salmon with Bloomsdale spinach, warm crab vinaigrette, and spring onions.

With a range of international influences, the menu still manages to feel cohesive and tight, with starters priced between ten and sixteen dollars and entrees at $22-32. There are, of course, also cocktail creations, with Thrillist keen on the Whiz Kid (peanut-infused rum with lime and curacao) and Villain (rye, snap liquor, molasses, and chocolate chili bitters. There will eventually be DJs here and the website looks ready to get the place packed with special events. But so far, Williams’ food quite fortunately looks like it should rightfully be the biggest draw to this newbie, which might not even need a potential nightlife component if it emerges as a great restaurant.
