Today we got official word that Lee Schrager will be Gilt City’s new “Chief Lifestyle Advisor.” The organizer of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival (and its New York counterpart) tells Grub Street that he first worked with Gilt City at the New York food fest last fall: “I’ve never seen such incredible response,” he says of the event they collaborated on. So what will Schrager actually do? Help “create access” to high-end restaurants and chefs in all six of the company’s cities (that’s New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, L.A., and Miami). He promises: “The Michael Whites of the world, the Eric Riperts, Colicchio, Dan Silverman, Dan Barber, Gabrielle Hamilton. Look at the chef and restaurants who are hard to get into, and those are the ones I’m going to work closely with.” And is Schrager excited about the news that he could soon be co-workers with Ruth Reichl? Yes, but he says, “I haven’t heard that’s a done deal.”
