Joshua Skenes Quite Likely Among Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs for 2011

One of the most deserving local candidates in our eyes, chef Joshua Skenes of Saison, looks to be one of this year’s picks for Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs — the highly influential and career-making annual list by the national mag, which will be unveiled tomorrow. As she did last year, editor-in-chief Dana Cowin is doing some Twitter riddles to tease out this year’s honorees, and Clue #3, “Bay Area Ale,” points us (and the Scoop) pretty directly toward Chef Skenes (a saison being a type of ale, for you non-beer-lovers). We won’t congratulate him just yet, and we’ll all feel real dumb if we’re wrong — but we don’t think so, and Skenes was also among the nominees for the ’People’s Best New Chef,’ so we have that as a clue too.
