Hokkaido Seafood Buffet Expanding to West L.A.

Central L.A. seafood lovers will finally have their own location of Hokkaido Seafood Buffet this fall as we spy “coming soon” signage for the restaurant, which has outposts in Encino and Long Beach, currently flying at West L.A.’s Westside Pavillion. The concept at this chain, named for the northern Japanese island, is pretty simple. You pay $10 at lunch and $18 at dinner for a lengthy spread of All-You-Can-Eat Japanese stations. There’s a sushi bar with rolls and sashimi, a huge seafood aisle with shellfish, steamed fish filets, and such eats as asparagus shrimp, plus sections for soup, salad, and a spread of hot dishes from salt and pepper pork chops to BBQ ribs. It is a helluva deal, leading to some hardcore wait-times. Hopefully, both the long drives and long lines will be ameliorated when this third location cuts ribbon.
