After 25 years of service, Emil’s Bar and Grill shut down last week. The issue? Apparently the restaurant suffered a huge decline in foot traffic after a construction project started along Wacker Drive. In fact, Emil’s isn’t the only restaurant feeling the pinch along that stretch. Bobby Kyriakopoulos, the manager of an outlet of the Billy Goat Tavern which is less than a block away, admitted to FOX that he was “concerned” about construction, though business is good enough to stay open. Of course, the Chicago Department of Transportation said that the disruption has been “minimal” and that it plans to reopen the street in “May or early June.” Still, that’s too late for Emil’s. [FOX]
