We sometimes get the feeling that the James Beard Awards are just not that into us over in L.A. Fortunately, Food & Wine is much better at keeping our egos stroked, having just named Ricardo Zarate one of the country’s best new chefs. Feast reminds us that L.A. has a number of past winners cooking in our midst. Though we might argue that Tom Colicchio isn’t exactly one of us, it’s still a refreshing reminder to see that definitive L.A. chefs like Josiah Citrin, Suzanne Tracht, Suzanne Goin, Nancy Silverton, Nobu Matsuhisa, Celestino Drago, and Raphael Lunetta were all F&W; award winners, along with recent picks like the Animal boys and Roy Choi.
