Okay, it makes sense that Aziz Ansari is on the guest list of Food & Wine’s 2011 Best New Chefs in America celebration tonight at the Bohemian National Hall. He’s a New York Diet alum, after all. Same with actor turned wine producer Kyle MacLachlan. And everyone else attending is an industry vet, or at least a Top Chef contestant: Frank Bruni, Daniel Boulud, Tom Colicchio, Todd English, and so on. But one expected guest sticks out above all others: 50 Cent! Is the rapper trying to upstage Jay-Z in the foodie sphere? Either way, some of the winners have already been sniffed out: It’s a safe bet Stephanie Izard, George Mendes (one of Adam Platt’s best new chef picks last year), and Joshua Skenes will be honored. Elsewhere in awards, Time Out named its winners in categories such as “Pretty Thai for a White Guy” (Kin Shop).
