While the Fairmont Copley Plaza contemplates the fate of the Oak Room, the Fairmont Battery Wharf eagerly welcomes a brand-new restaurant, Aragosta. More ahead.
As we told you several weeks ago, the harborside dining room replaces dignified Sensing, a very good restaurant whose service was unfortunately panned in a scathing review by the Herald’s Mat Schaffer.
Chef David Daniels helms the new "Italian-Mediterranean meets New England" hotel dining room. Previously, he worked at Stephanie’s on Newbury and The Federalist. More recently, he spent time at Topper’s at the Wauwinet. Per a release, we can expect "hand-made pastas, prime meats and New England seafood."
We’re curious to see how this one turns out. Steering a hotel dining room can be a tough gig; you’re often walking a tightrope between tourist-friendly safety and true inventiveness. Plus, there’s Boston’s (hopefully changing) tendency to host middling waterfront restaurants. We’re hoping Aragosta stays afloat … and maybe even rises above.
