Young Winos Get a Riot of Their Own

“Wine Riot” sounds like some kind of mash-up blending The Clash and The Replacements, but it’s actually a wine exposition from Boston organized for a younger demographic than your typical baby boomer bash. Produced by Second Glass, a crew of wine pros all aged under 30, Wine Riot is coming to Santa Monica’s Dining Deck on March 25th and 26th for the first time with over 250 international wines, plus food from I Heart Pies, Coolhaus, Market, and Damn, That’s Good!

Wine Riot is not just a massive wine tasting, but also an educational seminar and all-around par-tay. Various 20 minute classes will be held to get folks familiar with the global gathering of varietals, while the event employs wine consultants to roam freely and answer questions people have about what they’re sipping on.

Since this event has the next generation in mind (trying to get them onto wine before craft beer dents the industry’s profits), there will also be DJs, free energy drinks, photo-booths, and a room for napping/vomiting on your blanket. This is L.A.’s first chance to try this Boston-originated event, with a portion of proceeds from the $50-$60 tickets going to 826LA, a non-profit focusing on young people’s writing skills.
