Back in January, we reported that the owners of Bua, Wilfie & Nell, and Sweet Afton were eyeing the Sala space on Bowery, and we now hear they have a name for what will likely be a bi-level gastropub — it’ll be called the Wren. Now that Old Rooster seems to have closed (they’ve been shuttered the past two weeks and we haven’t been able to reach them), why not name it after a bird? According to the agenda for a Community Board 2 licensing committee meeting, they’ll be pleading their case for a full liquor license tonight. Also on the docket: A rebirth of recently shuttered Gonzalez y Gonzelez at 192 Mercer, a project from Craftbar GM Hayden Felice at 615 Hudson Street, another from Stella Manhattan Bistro owner Fernando Dallorso at 298 Lafayette, and two Kenmare Street projects we’ve already mentioned, from Toby’s Public House and from Lucali. Plus, Laura Maniec’s Corkbuzz.
