Flying out of SFO is about to get a hell of lot happier, and filling, at least for domestic passengers. The long-awaited Terminal 2 is set to open next month, April 14, and as the Chron reports today the collection of food and drink options represents a new paradigm in airport food courts. Not only will there be a second location of Tyler Florence’s Rotisserie & Wine geared more toward fast-casual, there’ll be a new restaurant from Iron Chef Cat Cora, which will be called Cat Cora Lounge (not Cat Cora’s ‘Cue as previously reported), featuring cocktails, small plates, and local seafood. But it doesn’t stop there.
Equator Coffee will be opening their first retail location there, and a huge, 5,000 square foot, Ferry Building-style food emporium will anchor the complex called Napa Farms Market. The place will include fresh local produce, takeaway “picnic boxes,” a wine bar from Vino Volo, and outposts of Cowgirl Creamery, Acme Bread, and Three Twins Ice Cream. The place is actually being designed by the same firm that did the Ferry Building, and the project’s being spearheaded by Steve Carlin of the Oxbow Public Market in Napa.
In a whole separate food court there’ll be a new Lark Creek Grill, as well as Pinkberry, Burger Joint, Andale, and the Plant Organic Café.
So you got all that? Expect travelers in the International Terminal to be looking on sadly across the tarmac as they eat their Firewood chicken.
