Red Light Closes in the West Loop

Last weekend Red Light unceremoniously closed after its state license expired. Apparently the pan-Asian restaurant had been operating illegally for all of February and March, and also had its liquor license revoked in January. While this is truly unfortunate news for a staple of the Randolph Street dining scene, it’s just a continuation of bad news for the KDK Restaurants Inc., which owned the space. The restaurant group had to close Gioco last week over some tax issues, and also shut down Marché over the summer. Hopefully this is the end of the closing spree for the company, which also owns the very popular Carnivale. Still, as Time Out has already pointed out, looks like longtime Red Light chef, Jackie Shen, picked the perfect time to completely change cuisines when she left for Chicago Cut Steakhouse a few months ago.
