Here on his home turf, Stephen Starr has number of projects up in the air — Il Pittore, Talula’s Garden and an unnamed beer garden in Fishtown among them. But before any of those hometown projects open, it’s likely that Makoto, his second restaurant in Florida, will come first. Miami New Times reports that Starr and Morimoto vet Makoto Okuwa will open the spot on Sunday at the swanky Bal Harbour Shops. The 200-seat indoor/outdoor restaurant will feature a “sexy but sophisticated” atmosphere and modern Japanese cuisine. [Miami New Times]
