Kong, the short-lived Asian street food spot from Bistro 7’s Michael O’Halloran, which closed last year, will soon become home to The Blind Pig, the Insider reports. If the “pig” in its name wasn’t a dead giveaway, the place is aiming for a gastropub vibe. With Standard Tap just two blocks north and everything from North Third, Liberties, the Abbaye, Gunners Run and Johnny Brenda’s all in very close proximity, its starting to feel like there’s a bit of a gastropub glut on that stretch on North Second Street and its surrounding blocks. The more the merrier, we suppose. Let’s just hope there’s enough cask conditioned Yards ESA to go around. [Insider]
