While Restaurant Staff Starves, L.A. City Council Gets Stuffed

It’s not quite on the level of the Bell salary scandal, but it’s still pretty disturbing to see just what a friggin’ ball L.A.’s City Council members are having spending tax money like drunken seamen on leave at our local restaurants, no less after hearing that 82% of our restaurant workers lack a living wage. L.A. Weekly drops the dime (actually several thousand of them) that “San Fernando Valley Councilman Tony Cardenas spent $10,000 in 15 visits to E3rd Steakhouse & Lounge” (including one $3,000 visit) while Jose “Cribnotes” Huizar racked up a $2,845 bill over thirteen visits to Pacific Dining Car. Maybe it’s time we ask them to eat at the food trucks City Council members have so often spoken out against.
