We caught wind that it had closed just a couple weeks ago, but now the Bay Area Reporter gets the scoop that The Edge (4149 18th Street) is open anew under the ownership of Rob Giljum, Tim Eicher, and Rob Cotterman who also own Qbar on Castro Street. “We saw an opportunity to buy the Edge and give it new life,” says Giljum. “We couldn’t turn it down.” The partners are hoping to bring that “new life” by way of some new events, which we imagine the “window queens” (pictured), who are regulars, will grumble about. The Edge will remain open throughout the renovation, which they hope to complete by May, in time for the bar’s 40th anniversary.
