Suburban Restaurants Experience a Crime Wave

As the dining frontier in Philly’s western ’burbs expands, so to is the crime on restaurant-goers, according to NBC Philadelphia. On Tuesday evening crooks broke into five cars at Georges Perrier’s eponymous Wayne outpost, and in the past month neighboring spots along the Main Line have experienced a barrage of car break-ins, while diners casually munch and sip oblivious to the parking lot misdeeds. Stealthy thieves, who police say are using screwdrivers to discreetly gain entry into parked cars, have stolen everything from iPods, laptops and cash. Surprisingly, police report that much of what’s been reported stolen was left in plain sight in locked up cars. No doubt this is drag for the area’s restaurant renaissance, but seriously, who in their right mind leaves cash and valuables out in plain sight in an unattended vehicle in the first place?
