Yesterday, we lamented that the Phantom Gourmet threw a temper tantrum on the air after a hostess refused to allow Mike Andelman to sit down before dinner service had begun. Well, today the Globe reports that Andelman is bewildered that anyone’s offended. (As a refresher, he referred to the hostess as a “monkey” and basically declared that all hostesses are hot, yet incompetent.) He told the Globe that his comments were made facetiously, explaining that the radio show is “obviously satire.” So, essentially, Andelman’s surprised anyone would take the Phantom seriously.
