Is the Brunch Party Over at Via dei Mille?

Via dei Mille got its own label of prosecco just like nearby Downtown Cipriani, but it seems to have lost the bellini battle. After a little over two years, the restaurant has closed “for a few weeks due to renovations,” according to a sign on the door. Not a single parked Escalade in sight, and its last Twitter update was to promote a January 9 party brunch. As DNA Info pointed out last September, those brunches elicited numerous 311 calls, and Community Board 2 voted not to support a new liquor license after the State Liquor Authority revoked the old one (according to DNA Info, “the SLA found that Via dei Mille had failed to notify authorities of a change in management from the names listed on the license, and therefore had been operating illegally for over 18 months”). The license is currently said to be “pending” on the SLA’s website.
