Freddy’s Reopens, ‘On Steroids,’ in South Slope

Metromix has some snapshots from the much-anticipated reopening of Freddy’s, the Atlantic Yards refugee that now resides in the South Slope. The Wall Street Journal’s Metropolis blog also attended, and owner Donald O’Finn described the new place (with its flat-screens instead of vintage TVs) as “Freddy’s on steroids.” Meanwhile, a regular laments that a four-inch stiletto from the old location (“the dirtiest, nastiest thing of all time”) has been cleaned up and covered in glitter, but worry not — a section of the old bathroom wall is on display, and the new bathroom is already getting tagged. Plus, as WNYC reports, the old tables have been brought over, complete with initials carved into them. And according to New York Press, partner Matt Kuhn is planning a bar menu of “burger-and-fries basics, Tex-Mex, a vegetarian option or two and kielbasa sausage.” Huzzah.
